Our History

Show Off Your Hats was born from a love of collecting and a creative solution to an everyday problem — organizing a growing hat collection. After living overseas for several years, I made it a tradition to collect baseball caps as keepsakes from my travels. My love for golf only added to the collection, and hats quickly became an essential part of my wardrobe — especially on those inevitable "bad hair days" (trust me, it’s not pretty!).

When I moved back to the United States, a mover unpacking our belongings opened a box overflowing with baseball caps and asked, "What do you do with all these hats?" That simple question stuck with me — and that night, I couldn't stop thinking about it. How do you safely store and show off a large hat collection?

I immediately shared the idea with my son, Collin. Over the following months, Collin designed more than 15 different prototypes on his in-house 3D printer, experimenting with designs and materials to find the perfect hat clip. After lots of trial and error, we created a durable, stylish solution we knew others would love too.

In January 2024, after a two-year journey (and a few pandemic delays), we proudly secured our patent for the Hat Clip — a moment of pride for our family and a major milestone for Show Off Your Hats. Today, our innovative hat clips are manufactured in Minnesota using premium materials, supporting American craftsmanship from the very first 3D-printed design to the final product.

Meet Our Mascot

Our logo features a very special character — Spencer, our 12-year-old Australian shepherd, proudly holding a baseball cap in his mouth. Illustrated by my talented daughter, Kendall, Spencer represents loyalty, creativity, and the spirit behind Show Off Your Hats.
